It’s official: organic food really is better

Well I’ll let the experts explain about why organic really is better,(article from the Times Online), but here’s the rundown:

  • more antioxidants (up to 40% more)
  • more iron
  • more zinc
  • all those extra antioxidants could let you ‘get by’ with fewer fruit portions per day

There are additional, non-tangible benefits of eating organic food, too:

  • the biggest benefit is that you will become more aware of the food you eat, and remember that your body is your temple, and ‘garbage in, garbage out’
  • you will understand more fully the connections of big business to your food
  • if you visit farmer’s markets you will engage with the people who deal directly with the food you buy, not the produce person at your corporate supermarket
  • you might spend a bit more on your food, but you will get better tasting and healthier meals

Give organic a try!

  1. Just out of curiosity….Do you know where I can purchase good quality foods online? I am now trying to order from online stores only because of various reasons…….can you help me with any suggestions??????

There is only one place, out of all that I have tried that really stood out for true quailty, and that is Celebrityfoods.

If you can help me grow my list of quality services or stores, where I can buy my food, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thank you!

  2. I think you’re located in the US? Unfortunately I live in the UK so I only know personally of various UK online shops to try. Have you tried doing a web search for local farmer’s markets you can go to? Even if you’re not able to attend them, they people who organize the markets should have a web site with links to the local places that have online shops. Usually these places will specialize in one thing or another (dairy only, bread/flour only, or meat only, that kind of thing), so you might have to try 2 or 3 online places to get everything you’re looking for.

Also, have you tried joining some…err, hippy web forums? :) Often the folks on there will know of some great online shops that have everything you needs. You could try searching on Google Groups (http://groups.google.com) as well, try searching for something like ‘organic online shop’ or post a request for information on reputable shops.

I hope this helps! :) Thanks for the comment!
