About me
Hi, I’m Frank McKinney and I write the WannabeHippy blog to document my attempts to live a simpler, low-stress, less-crap life. I started the blog to journal about my attempts to use items like organic, free trade, sustainable, low energy and vegetarian/vegan products in my daily life. Although I’ve long been interested in the natural world, backpacking, living off the land, self-sustainability and those sorts of things, I hadn’t made significant inroads to living closer to my ideal. Plus, writing about these types of things had started to take over my regular blog, which was originally started to tell friends and family about my move to England from California, then it became a sort of journal to talk or rant about various things.
Eventually I decided to branch out and see if I could have enough ‘material’ to create another blog, plus evolve my regular day-to-day life into a more sustainable (and some might say, hippy-ish) existence. So I checked if the domain name was free, reserved it, found an eco-friendly host provider, and here I am!
This blog covers a variety of ‘green’ and eco-friendly topics, ranging from my attempts to change my daily life to a more sustainable existence, current events, the politics of being green, and comments about online articles and other eco-blogs.
